This is Ocean Sentinel
Ocean Sentinel is a student-run company born from the Industrial Engineering & Management program at Chalmers University. We aspire to engage marinas in the work of mapping ocean temperatures near the coast of Sweden. Today there are big data gaps near the coast, as it is expensive to collect data using small boats. That is why we have constructed a simple, cheap and automated temperature sensor that gives marinas the chance to contribute!
The Ocean Needs You

Every passing moment, the world's oceans undergo unprecedented changes that hold the key to understanding and combating the global climate crisis. But time is running out. Our window of opportunity to act upon this critical mission is rapidly closing.

Our only chance to solve this crisis is to increase the knowledge about the oceans. A greater understanding of our waters will allow scientists to compute complex models as well as influence politicians and journalists to understand the urgent need of actions.

Our Solution
Our sensor combined with your efforts has the potential to fill the data gaps. The Sentinel#1 is cheap, easy to use and with our guidance it requires no technical knowledge.

The data collection process is fully automated and your contribution will be accessible to users HERE.

Meet our Partner
We are proud to present our Partner Kullaviks Hamn. Thanks to this collaboration we have had the opportunity to do pilot testing of our sensor and have gained valuable insights from the marina industry. We praise Kullaviks hamn for their contribution to Citizen Science and call for other marinas to follow their lead
